Mozilla University Design Challenge Fall ‘09
Mozilla's History slide
Summary:
The browsing experience here will help the user remember where he has been. By providing a timeline at the top that can be used to navigate back and forth by just sliding it. Users will visually see the sites they have been to and be able to see the path in the which they got to any given site. This helping the users remember when they saw a specific site.
Description:
• When hovering a thumbnail a brief description will come up showing page title, minutes spent on it and links within the site that were viewed. page title color will vary depending on the time spent, making those who were only seen briefly more important since they are the ones most likely to be forgoten
• Thumbs that appear side by side are pages that were seen within the same browser window
• Thumbs that appear on top of each other will be sites that were opened in new windows or tabs
• Thumbs that lead to multiple windows (e.g. searches) will have a drop down effect when clicked
Functionality:
• Thumbs that are just one site when clicked will go to the site (in the demo apple and macrumors)
• Thumbs that are one site with multiple pages viewed when clicked will go to another page with the same layout but containing the navigation within the site (in the demo flickr)
• Thumbs that have multiple different sites leading from it when clicked will have a drop down effect to display the different sites display (in the demo google search - click once to got to the page where the dropdown effect in functional and then click again)
Note:
• the link is just a prototype
• On the first link you will the effect of the hovering over the thumbs
• When clicking the google search thumb, you will be taken to another page where if you click the google search thum again, you will be able to see the drop down effect (I was not able to make them work together)
